Mermaid adventures

Come with me as I climb every mountain, ford every stream, freeze every toe off and slather on the bug spray.

My Camera Gear | The Hiking Mermaid

January 26, 2018

Everyone always ask what kinda camera I have…. But its really not about just the camera body.
My body was bought new back in 2011!!! And only has 12 megapixels!!!! Can you believe that?! Because contrary to popular belief, its also about more than just the megapixels!!! Its a compilation of things!!!!  But lets get down to exactly what i use-

Body

(pro series, so even though its almost 7 years old, its made with quality and built to last! That large price tag DOES come with benefits!) Nikon D3s (however im looking to soon upgrade because its just THAT TIME for me now <3

Also i use the GoPro hero5 black, and i have almost every mount under the sun for it.

Lenses

Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 (used most for my landscapes and star shots)

Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 (workhorse for portraits and events, sometimes used for night stuff)

Nikon D 135 f2 (Portrait MAKER!! This baby has the BEST BOKEH-the blur you see)

Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 (wildlife and sports stuff for this one…. OH weddings too)

Lens Wishlist

saving up to purchase next….
A macro lens not sure on which yet

The nikon 35mm f1.2
And the Tamaron 150-600mm f5/6.3

Trusty tripods

Joby!! I literally have a joby for everything!!!!! I have one for my iphone, one for my gopro and even found one strong enough to hold my big ass camera and lens AND its only 1lb!!!!! So its perfect for my hiking and backpacking!!!

Heres a place to find the right one for you! I will tell you i bought the cheap 10.99 fake one and its a bit sketchy because the balls come apart. So i worry with enough force ill loose my camera, thats why i stuck with the joby brand, its worth it.

And then we have the more professional industry standard, and cant go wrong brand called MANFROTTO!!!

I have a ball head grip for my manfrotto and use it when im shooting near my car or on a hike thats short. Its rather heavy because i wanted a stable one for real estate work and for star shooting!! But you can find many versions of the MANFROTTO! <3
